- Explain the participant incentive
program thats on each of their color pamphlets. This
helps participants get excited about selling!
- Explain what the products are. For example
the double sided keychain can have a different name on each side.
This is a product that boyfriend / girlfriend love.
- Let participants know when the start and
finish dates are. Two weeks is an ideal time frame but you
probably know what works best for your situation. Sometimes
anything more than 2 weeks can be counter-productive because the
focus of the the fundraiser is lost.
- Let participants know the clear
reason and goal for this fundraiser. This helps establish
the need for the fundraiser and can motivate participants to do
their part.
- To help participants feel a larger
part of the responsibility of the fundraiser assign volunteers to
help run and administer the fundraiser. This puts a few more
people on your side.
- Have each participant make a list of
family, friends and neighbors who may be interested in
supporting your fundraising event and when they could possibly
contact them. This helps avoid door to door selling and
helps participants have a strategic plan and course of
action.
- Getting the word out is most
important. You can do this by putting up flyers in different
places, setting up a table during lunch hour. Invite
participants to ask their parents to take a catalog to work to
show co-workers.
- The most important thing is to have fun and
keep participants excited and enthusiastic!
Fundraising
safety
- We discourage any student from selling door
to door.
Let parents know who you intend
to ask to support your group.
Never allow children to carry
collected money unless accompanied by a responsible
adult.
